Exploring the link between farmers’ entrepreneurial identities and work wellbeing

Pressure on farmers to behave more ‘entrepreneurial’ is increasing. Psychological and social science research therefore has examined what characterises identifying as entrepreneurs. A previous study in Finland suggested that farmers' self-identities may conflict with the public paradigm describing entrepreneurs instead of food providers. Different expectations towards farming cause identity issues decrease work wellbeing. The present examines relationship wellbeing entrepreneurial identification. Utilizing Maslach Burnout Inventory theory Entrepreneurial Identity, results show higher for diversified rural business owners than conventional Finland. Conventional other hand experience rates loss personal control self-efficacy, indicating political strategies entrepreneurs, diversification innovativeness, are not applicable all farmer groups. Entrepreneurs aim autonomy which generally be limited specialised, subsidy-dependent agricultural production systems. Identity formation processes how can gain over their businesses well limitations entrepreneurship momentary policy system, should considered upcoming strategies.
